Wedding Wednesday – Wedding Dress Shopping
I had been researching shops/boutiques and found one that I thought I was going to go to. Then, someone I knew shared a Facebook add for a new store, Simply Blush Bridal, that was having a sale Valentine’s Day weekend. So, I took a chance and made an appointment. It was one of the best choices I made while wedding planning!
I still knew going into the appointment what I wanted. However, I tried telling myself I was not going to find a replica of the dress I thought was my dream dress and to let it go. I was still very picky – I wanted a ball gown, lots of lace, a little sparkle, buttons, a sash with a big bow, and a sweetheart neckline. Just a few minor must-have details, haha!
The store was the most darling place! Decorated perfectly with the best selection of dresses. I brought my mom, sister, cousin, and boss with me. They each found some dresses they wanted me to try, then my sweet stylist and I picked a few that I thought I may like.
I had tried on four dresses – 3 that I walked out to show and 1 that I didn’t even leave the room in. I was a little discouraged because I loved things about each dress, but none of them were “the one.” Next, my stylist requested I try on one of the dresses from their exclusive line – these were very customizable. The dress had thicker lace tank top style straps, and a beaded back I wasn’t very fond of. However, I slipped into it and she tucked the straps in and I looked in the mirror. I knew right then and there! Before I even walked out or knew I could get rid of the beaded detail on the back, my heart said this was it!
So I walked out, showed my “fan club” and the rest is history! I ended changing quite a bit on the dress. I took off the straps completely to give it the sweetheart neckline I wanted, took out the beaded back to have it more open, added buttons, took out a layer of lace, and ended up buying a sash on Etsy to attach later for my big bow! BUT – it ended up being EXACTLY what I dreamed of and more – even better than the crazy expensive designer gown I fell in love with.
Of course once the veil was added and I held a bouquet I started crying – I felt like a bride for the first time and knew I found the dress of my dreams!
I couldn’t recommend Simply Blush enough. They’re all so sweet, love making brides feel beautiful, and have the cutest, most intimate shop that makes for the best memories.
I also had the BEST seamstress. She perfected all my alterations and tiny details, made my dress very comfortable, and made my already almost perfect dress go above and beyond everything I wanted. I couldn’t recommend Rachel at Perfect Fit Tailoring more!
